A Struck Through, Retained Staple Mint Error Coin with Appraisal. This rare mint error coin 1949-D Lincoln cent has an appraisal. The 1949 ‘wheat’ penny has a silver-tone inverted U-shaped inclusion (thought to be a staple) embedded to the obverse. Included with the penny is a vintage 1960s typewritten, notarized appraisal.
