A Burmese yoke thé marionette puppet. Yoke thé is the traditional marionette puppetry of Myanmar (formerly Burma). The puppet features a wood framed body with painted hands, feet, and face and is dressed in a traditional Burmese outfit with a colorful robe, ornate yellow vest, and pointed red hat. The hands, arms, and feet have attached strings allowing for control of the puppet’s movements.
Condition
- losses to paint on hands and head. Head is loose. Fabric is faded and frayed on edges. Stain on vest. Several of the strings attached to the control bar have become detached and tangled.
