Framed Original Thai Temple Rubbing
Item Details
A framed original Thai temple rubbing. This richly detailed rubbing in black depicts two figures dressed in traditional Thai dress, greeting one another. The rubbing is from a Thai bas-relief sculptural wall in a temple wherein a piece of rice paper was placed up against a temple wall, leaving a relief image of the intricately carved wall. These collectible prints are now especially sought after since their creation was banned due to damage to historic Thai temples caused by the rubbing. The piece is presented behind glass in a black wood frame and tan single mat, with a wire on the back for hanging.
