Item Details
An early 19th century Birge and Gilbert triple decker column and cornice shelf clock with a beautiful mahogany veneer, circa the 1830s. This eight day mantle clock features a glass paneled door to the facade that covers the cream colored clock face with its black roman numerals and gold appliquéd design. Through the window in the center you can see the original printed label, which features the maker’s mark, along with the pendulum (when put together correctly). There is another smaller door near the bottom with an elegant gold toned design on a black background to the front, which opens to reveal the interior cabinet that contains the lower portion of the printed label from above. Both doors can be opened by a small key, which is included, along with the original weights, pendulum, and other parts.
