An original oil on canvas painting by well known, and listed Ohioan artist, James Yoko (1916 – 2004). This wonderful abstract painting is entitled ‘Cosmos,’ and features an heavily involved abstraction that would make Carl Sagan proud of humankind. Yoko has threaded the black swirling space dust of the outer limits through the yellow blue glinting light of the ocean, delivering a beautifully indistinguishable mash up of all that exists and is known to man. Truly a wonderful Pangaea of different realms of matter, textural qualities, and variations of light that are exemplary of the time when it was painted. The painting is signed to the bottom left hand corner Yoko ’54, and again on an exhibition label to the verso.The painting is framed in a wooden frame that is tacked to the edge of the canvas stretcher, however, professionally so.
Condition
Wear consistent with age, canvas is worn and frayed at the edges near the stretchers but this is an absolutely phenomenal painting.
