Original Aletha Jones Watercolor Painting on Paper

An original watercolor on paper painting by well regarded contemporary artist Aletha A. Jones. This watercolor is entitled ‘Croquet with Pink Flamingos.’ The artist has painted a rather absurd scene, full of humor and the awkward postures of middle aged men. This group of men, out on the green, is entirely clad in white clothes, literally playing croquet with pink flamingos, while a crowd of flamingos watches intently from over the hedgerow. This painting would seem to be making a feminist statement, most likely concerning the objectification of females, and the general idiocracy of patriarchy. The painting is pencil signed to the bottom right hand corner, and is presented in a white metal frame, with a single white mat to edge. There is a label from the Miller Gallery to the verso.

Condition

Some scuffing and scratching to frame, painting is somewhat wavy in the frame.
