Mid 19th Century Empire Five-Drawer Chest
Item Details
A mid 19th century Empire five-drawer chest. The mixed wood case features a rectangular top above paneled sides and two aligned and dovetailed frieze drawers with convex fronts. The upper row is outset over three long drawers and a pair of scrolled uprights. The drawer fronts are fitted with mushroom-form knobs and inset brass key surrounds while the lower three are embellished with bookmatched, mahogany veneers. The chest rises on scrolled front feet.
