Eugene Higgins Charcoal on Paper "Nightmare"

An original charcoal on paper drawing titled Nightmare by American artist Eugene Higgins (1874 – 1958). The work depicts a bearded male figure falling in a dark dream like cityscape, holding a broken window and a canvas. This piece is a part of a larger series done by the artist in Paris. Descriptive decal for the framer, gallery, and an artist bio are taped to the verso. Item is presented in a fabric mat, under glass, and framed with hanging hardware on the verso. Higgins was known for his Social Realist subjects depicting the poor and downtrodden of society in a European influenced style; more information can be found in the link.

Condition

- there is a diagonal crease in the upper right, and minor scratches and scrapes along the frame.
