A signed exhibition poster titled, Howard Finster Goes to Mars by visionary folk artist, poet, and musician, Reverend Howard Finster (American, 1916-2001), best known for his unique, outsider artwork that is often covered in Bible verses and other words. This poster depicts a drawing of our nation’s youngest elected president, John F. Kennedy, with a large circle below that is filled with various words and phrases regarding the Mars Gallery show, which is then surrounded by various designs with the exhibition information printed below. This entirely black and white poster is hand signed by the artist, Howard Finster, along the lower right margin.

Howard Finster was an American folk artist and Baptist minister from Georgia who is known as one of America’s most important creative personalities of this day in age. He was a self-taught artist with incredible talent who has often been called the “Picasso of folk artists” and has been featured in hundreds of exhibitions all over the country. Finster’s artwork is very unique, colorful, and detailed, often covering his pieces with words, especially Bible verses, making his artwork very hard to forget!
