Item Details

An original oil on canvas wrapped board painting by Indiana artist Lucian Lupinski (1918 – 2002). Lupinski was an artist-in-residence for the Post in Indianapolis and is best known for his portraits of Governor Robert D. Orr, and Tom Selleck which was featured on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post in 1987. The painting depicts a gathering of gentleman on horseback preparing for a fox hunt. The color palette of saturated oranges and cool blues and pinks along with the use of light suggests a fox hunt at sunrise with brushstrokes that are impressionistic in style. The piece is signed by the artist to the lower left along with three dots that stand for the artist, his wife and his son. It is housed in a simple black frame and has wire to the verso for hanging.
