A handwoven wool Heriz Serapi area rug. The rug features a large, pale blue lozenge to the center with a traditional star medallion to the center in a rich indigo blue and pale, tawny beige and ruby palette. To either end of the star medallion is an over-sized _harshang- medallion, connected to the star by rectilinear crimson vines and smaller palmettes. The large spandrels echo the rectilinear floral motifs with two ruby red tulips and oak leaves. A pair of taupe guard borders flank a wide main border having a turtle design in the same palette on a bright white field. The rug has a dense wool pile with natural wool warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.
