Asian Ceramics Including Signed 19th Century Kutani Plates

Item Details

A collection of Asian ceramics decorated in shades of orange and gold. Included here is a teapot with a bamboo handle decorated with trees, palms, elephants. It is marked ‘Manufacturer by Lanka Porcelain (PVT) Ltd., Sri Lanka.’ Also included is a bowl decorated with flower-and-bird motifs and is marked ‘Gold Imari, Hand Painted.’ Of particular note are two Kutani ware plates decorated with figures of samurai. The outer rims are decorated with bats, symbols of happiness. Both plates are signed by ‘Made by Hichozan Fukagawa’ (肥著山 深川製, Hichozan Fukagawa sei), dating these plates to the early Meiji period (1868-1912).
