Mel Ramos Limited Edition Serigraph "Leo"

An unsigned limited edition serigraph titled Leo by California Pop artist Mel Ramos (b. 1935), produced in 1972 for the Licht Editions Limited Edition Serigraph Calendar. The print depicts the golden image of a lion standing background of a nude women in a repose position on the ground. This print comes from an edition of 3000. There is a label affixed to the verso with title, artist name, and artist information. Presented behind glass in a gold tone acrylic frame with scroll and leaf decoration and a hanging wire to the verso.
Ramos was born in Sacramento, California and studied at Sacramento State College and specializes in painting female nudes and incorporating elements of realistic and abstract art.
The calendar was offered to the members of the Museum of Modern Art and a few select galleries and consisted of 12 original serigraphs by 12 different contemporary international artists in the early Seventies. It was created in an edition of 3000 and spiral bound, each month has a different serigraph that can be easily framed.
