Antique (pre-1868) Samurai Katana on Signed Display Stand
Item Details
An antique (pre-1868) Japanese samurai katana (sword) in an original scabbard, purchased by the present owner in Japan. The weapon is sheathed in the original saya (scabbard) with gilt decoration. The tsuka (handle) is wrapped with ray skin with the menuki present and wrapped in braided black silk. The kashira (hilt cap) is loose but present. The sword is beautifully presented on a hardwood stand which is signed ‘Kiochi’. The antique sword was disassembled at the handle and no signature was found on the blade.
Condition
- good with loose but present kashira (hilt cap) and the blade is not fully inserting into the handle. The signed stand is in very good condition.
Dimensions
The measurements refer to the sword as presented on the display stand. The sword itself is 21" long
