A pair of Okinawan stoneware shisa. Each features a teal and blue glaze on a cream tone ground. Shisa are a traditional Ryukuan decoration, resembling a cross between a lion and a dog and are used to ward against evil spirits. When used in pairs, the left has a closed mouth and the right one has an open mouth, simultaneously keeping the good spirits in a house and the bad spirits out.
