Pair of Drexel "Hampton Court Collection" Mahogany Cabinets
Item Details
A pair of matching cabinets. A pair of classic American mahogany cabinets from the New Hampton Court Collection made by the Drexel Furniture Company. Its style offers a blend of Chippendale and Sheraton influences. The model number is 4107-4, manufactured September 1950. The Drexel mark is burned into the inside of the top drawer, and the back bears the stenciled identification. This piece is classic Drexel, having four wide bow-front center drawers with smaller side drawers above the cabinet doors. The drawers and cabinet doors are faced in matched mahogany veneer with a rich dark brown color. The cabinet doors feature a graceful oval inlay, and the case has carved corner posts. A typical 18th century touch is found in the circular drawer pulls which are the original Hepplewhite solid brass handles, and the doors have the original solid brass pulls. Silverware drawer has the original Pacific Silver Cloth lining in. The drawers are made from solid wood with dovetail construction and center guides to prevent binding.
