Meiji Period Japanese Kutani Vase and Small Royal Carlton Vase

A small Meiji period (1868–1912) Japanese Kutani vase and a small Royal Carlton vase. The Kutani vase is hand painted porcelain in traditional Kutani style of red and gold glazes. The decoration features flowers, birds, and mountains. It is marked 九谷 綿平製 (Kutani Watahira sei), meaning ‘Kutani ware, made by Watahira.’ The smaller vase is hand painted with gold, yellow and green flowers. It is marked on the bottom Royal Carlton US Patent office 705.980 and under this the numbers 5631.

Condition

- some crazing. Base is worn from use and age.
