"Madonna and Child" and "Christ with Angel" Russian Icons

A pair of contemporary Russian icons. One is of the Madonna and Child and the other is of Christ with Angel in pierced riza frames. The paintings are executed in oils on wooden panels in a renaissance style one depicting the Madonna holding the Christ child and a standing Christ. The well executed renderings of their faces are successfully illuminated by intricate and ornate incised and pierced halos in repousse. The riza is nailed to the exterior edge of the wooden panel. They both have two eye hooks and a wire attached to the verso; ready for hanging.
