Early 19th Century Hand-Painted Blanket Chest
Item Details
An early 19th century blanket chest comprised of large boards of wood. It features a painted hinged lid with six-petal flower to the center of a dulled-orange lozenge with additional accents. To the front of the chest, there are painted carved diamond lozenges with carved spandrels flanking the iron metal lock. The lock has a large key hole along with a hinged latch; however, there is no key included, but the chest is kept in the unlock position. The interior is painted a bold yellow color and does not feature any shelves or tiller box; it is just an open storage area. To the lower portion, the front of the chest has a scalloped skirt along with bracket feet. The verso has horizontal backboards along with large dovetailing. No marks
