Early 20th Century Larkin Oak Secretary Desk

An early 20th century oak secretary desk by Larkin Soap Mfg. Larkin Soap from the late 1870s manufactured a laundry soap named Sweet Home Soap; however, in the late 1890s to early 1900s, the company started to produce crockery along with furniture. This secretary desk features a curved rail with applied wood scrolls and floral accents, a beveled mirror is in the center of two flanking shelves with turned spindle pillars. The slanting drop down desk has more applied wood designs including a floral wreath; to the interior, there are seven cubby holes and two slot compartments. The desk finishes with two stacked bookcase shelves. To the verso, there is the original Inspected Seal with the Larkin name on it.
