Oil on Board Study of William van de Velde II's "Entrance to a Dutch Port"

A framed oil on board study of William Van de Velde II’s painting Entrance to a Dutch Port. A Dutch port is crowded with all manner of boats and ships in this oil on board reproduction. Initialed ‘M.N.J.’ to the lower left, the painting is displayed in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging hardware to the verso. The original work was completed in 1665 by van de Velde II (1633–1707) and is now housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A note attached to the verso of the painting reads ‘From Entrance to a Dutch Harbor (1633-1707) Van de Velde the Younger Metropolitan’.

Condition

Signs of minor wear. Craquelure present.

Measurement is for the frame. The painting measures 23.5″ × 17.5″ through the front of the frame.
