A pair of apple butter stirrers. These rustic wooden pieces feature a long handle and a perpendicular bottom paddle with holes in them, used to stir the apple butter continuously when traditionally made in a large kettle over an open frame. A metal plaque on one states ’Apple Butter Stirrer / made by / Louis Diesel 1836-1919).
