Hand Knotted Room Sized Sarouk Area Rug

A hand knotted room sized Sarouk area rug. The rug is decorated with intricate cream, blue, saffron, pale blue, orange and brown floral , palmette and lotus flower designs over a wine red field. The field is bound a compound border of smaller floral guard borders on saffron and indigo, with a principal border in indigo with a large-scale floral and hyacinth motif in complementary colors. It has a natural wool warp fringe to either end, and is unmarked. the selvedge edges are overcast in a similar red to the field.
