A Jose Clemente Orozco Zapatistas lithograph on paper. Orozco (Mexican, 1883-1949) is a painter and one of Mexico’s most famous muralists considered complex and often depicting moments of human suffering. In the 1920-30’s he lived in the United States created much art featuring the slain revolutionary leader Emiliano Zapata. This lithograph after his famous painting titled ‘Zapatistas’ from 1931, uses tones of earthy reds and blacks and depicts a somber moment for the revolutionaries. A signature is shown on the original work, on lower right. This lithograph is mounted in a white painted frame without glass.
