1930's Oak Partners Desk, Indiana Desk Company
Item Details
A fabulous, one-of-a-kind, antique double sided partners desk, circa 1930, by the Indiana Desk Company, in oak. Desk features a distressed painted finish (black over red crackle finish) on the base, a deep cherry stain on the top, square design to sides and drawers. Each end features three drawers on one pedestal and two on the other, cleverly made for the sake of symmetry with a false front on each of the file drawers, total of twelve drawers. Miraculously the drawers retain their original dividers and hardware, and have been meticulously maintained. The interior of the drawers has a durable glazed finish that has preserved the interior. The piece is extremely functional and useful, highly attractive; includes a 1/4’ thick clear tempered glass. Marked to interior of drawers as being made by the ‘Indiana Desk Company’ and being a’Member of the Wood Office Furniture Institute.’ The entire piece rests on eight square legs, with bronze tone feet.
Condition
Good-very good, the “distressed” effect on the base is intentional
