A John L. Eastman original framed gouache. Painting bears the following verse in the fields of yellows near bottom, ‘I saw the Lord before me always, for with Him at my right hand nothing can shake me. So my heart was glad and my tongue cried out with joy my body too, will rest in hope…’. This is followed by the artist mark of signature and date, ‘John L. Eastman 11.24.70’. Piece has Eastman’s signature style of an elongated female figure, this one stretching across a black field tethered to the ground by only her toes. His watercolors are crisp, not allowing for bleed or blend of color. Please see the attached link for additional information on the artist.
Condition
- frame is slightly coming apart at seams.
- backing paper on the frame has water damage.
- frame has plexiglas type pane attached over the top.
- matte has water damage in top right corner.
