Peter Max Signed Limited Edition Embossed Serigraph "Vase of Flowers"
Item Details
An original 2010 embossed serigraph on wove paper by well-listed and renowned German-American Pop artist Peter Max (1937 -), titled Vase of Flowers. The print depicts a bright painterly image of vivid blooms hanging from a tall, thin vase. Brushstroke-like embossed texture gives the piece the charm and appearance of an original. The print is signed and numbered 282/350 in pencil to the lower margin, and bears Max’s embossed blindstamp to the lower left. The print is matted in black with gold tone inner trim and is presented behind glass in a wooden frame with matted black finish and a hanging wire.
Max received his formal art education in the 1950s at the Art Students League of New York in Manhattan, where he studied anatomy, figure drawing and composition under the tutelage of Frank J. Reilly. Max began his career in illustration and graphic arts by creating collage-based works using elements taken from antique photographs. His interest in astronomy led to his self-described “Cosmic ’60s” period, where his art became a symbol of the counter-culture with its flamboyant use of bright rainbow colors and psychedelic images. Max works in multiple forms of media including painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, sculpture, video and digital imagery. American icons such as Bill Clinton, Taylor Swift, and Mohammed Ali appear in his works, along with other elements such as the Statue Of Liberty, peace signs, butterflies, and flying saucers.
