David Holzman Artist's Proof Woodblock "Journey"
Item Details
An original 1980 Artist’s Proof woodblock print on paper by contemporary Connecticut-based artist David Holzman, titled Journey. Holzman’s early works were often woodblocks, though he later moved into wood-carving, painting, and drawing. The piece depicts what appear to be small numbered boats floating in a rectangular spiral towards a center obelisk marked with the number 48 as a trio of dolphins look on. The print is signed, dated, titled, and labeled Artist’s Proof in pencil to the lower margin. Holzman received his MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and went on to teach at several institutions and exhibit his work worldwide.
