Item Details
A selection of two glass dishes featuring different motifs in the center. The larger disc is in an octagonal shape, (imagine a square with the corners cut off) with a clear center medallion that features a portrait in profile of General Ulysses S. Grant (April 27, 1822 – July 23, 1885). Above the General’s head is a title reading The Patriot and Soldier. Beneath the General’s portrait, another title reads Gen. Ulysses S. Grant. Surrounding the center display is a field of plain sharp diamond pattern glass that extends to the fluted glass patterned border. The edge features fluted ribbing. The large plate is by Higbee & Co. of Pittsburgh. The smaller dish is a horizontal oval shape with cut glass scroll-like finial handles. The center features a horseshoe with a parallelogram shape behind it, with leaved branches extending from the center surrounding it.
