Oil on Canvas Portrait of a Young Boy
Item Details
An oil on canvas portrait of a young boy. The subject sits in a wooden chair outside, presumably the garden of a home. The severe part in his hair is indicative of the 1920s or 1930s. His tan shirt is stitched with red thread and he wears a carnation, pinned to his left breast. A gold band is on his left middle finger. The piece is signed in the lower right corner in red paint: G. Sengard. The decorative frame includes a gold tone metal and red velvet mat. Ready to hang; metal wire hardware.
Condition
- significant crazing and cracks to the frame and decorative gold, nub textured mat. The velvet mat is missing fibers throughout. There is a large shallow dimple between ball and planter finial on staircase. There is marked crazing through paint layers throughout the whole piece.
