An original oil on porcelain late 19th century German miniature painting. This piece depicts a young boy dressed in red and white, gazing stoically towards the viewer. The painting is signed ‘Melzer’ to the right edge. It is completed in exquisite detail and has been remarkably preserved. The painting is presented in wooden frame with ornate cast embellishments and highly burnished gold leaf finish. This piece is mounted behind in a shadowbox-style wooden frame with black finish. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
