Vintage Karastan "Kirman" Area Rug

A vintage Karastan Kirman area rug. The rug is machine-made and features a detailed, stepped ogee panel floral pattern over the field in a bright palette of ruby, crimson, bright blue, peach, nutmeg, garnet, turquoise, indigo, saffron and shades of green. and pale pinks. Each panel features an elegant pattern of floral sprays and foliate motifs. It has a complex, compound border with a principal border in the same colorway, with ornate interlocked designs of stylized lotus flowers and palmettes. Two guard borders in cadet blue flank the principal border, having a carnation motif in ruby, saffron and bright pink. It has a warp fringe to either end and is a companion piece to 16CIN344- 071.
