Handwoven Turkmen Rug

Item Details

A handwoven Turkmen rug, circa mid-19th century. It features stepped dark red, brown and white, and orange borders with a brown field. The piece is covered in repeating geometric pole medallions in red, brown, black, white, and orange. Please see 16CIN344-123 for companion items.

Condition

- wear consistent with use; wear in the middle resulted in thin areas in the weave; white paint spots on the back; some unraveling areas; one end appears to have been hemmed.
