19th Century French Comtoise Longcase Clock
Item Details
A 19th century French comtoise or mobilier longcase clock. The provenchial walnut case with potbellied form features a vividly grained facade accented with scrolled and foliate marquetry inlay detail. The stamped brass and painted face is crested with two birds in a field of roses, daisies and lilies with painted highlights. The white enamelled face has Roman Numerals and marked Haslouin Ménager and Marolles-les-Braults. The similarly decorated elongated pendulum is housed in a painted compartment. The pot belly shaped section is formed to accommodate the movement of the pendulum. The two train movement has the accompanying weights and key. The case rests on slight bracket feet. Marolles-les-Braults is located in the Pays de la Loire region in north-western France.

Condition
Glass on pendulum door broken and detached with wear to case with evidence of inactive insect presence. Mechanism was not operational.
