Large Semi-Antique Hand Knotted Heriz Area Rug
Item Details
A large, hand-knotted Heriz area rug. The rug features a large deep red diamond-shaped lozenge With a traditional medallion to the center. The field has deep blues and ruby red, and throughout the field are repeating rectilinear floral motifs in blue, light blue, rose pink, steel grey, butter yellow, shades of green, warm beige, and mocha brown. The red field is flanked by ivory borders with complementary spandrels in similar colors. The principal, unresolved border features very large, oversized palmettes and stylized blossoms with serrated leaf motifs, flanked on either side by smaller geometric floral and foliate patterns. It has a natural warp fringe to either end and is unmarked.
