A French Aubusson style hand made wool needlepoint rug. The rug is designed with a light ecru background populated with an overall classical floral design, with a center floral medallion in pale blue, carmine, lavender, sage green, light green and pale yellow, with framing arabesques in tangerine, russet, and pale yellow, with four oval floral medallions to the corners, in carmine, sage green and light grey. Framing the center are four yellow bowl forms with gold arabesques to the center, and mirrored foliate motif to the center on each side. An undulating floral garland in greens, blues, lavenders and reds provide a main border with a guard band composed of geometric urn design in deep maroon, red, and cream. The rug is banded with a narrow chocolate stripe and finished to the verso with a canvas binding.
