Item Details

A George Nelson for Herman Miller teak L-shaped desk return. This Mid Century Modern piece has a front cabinet with shelf storage to the right, a sliding door in the center with drawer storage, and a cabinet with shelf storage on the left end. It stands on recessed, cylindrical, silver tone metal feet, and has silver tone locks and handles. It has the Herman Miller mark on the top of the cabinet door handle.

George Nelson (1908-1986) was one of the founders of American Modernism, using his architectural background and designs to usher in one of the most iconic style movements in history, focusing on not just the piece, but its use and impact within its environment and the larger world. He pioneered essential Modern concepts like the pedestrian mall and modular storage systems, as well as countless other now-fundamental designs. He partnered with Herman Miller in 1945, while maintaining his own firm in New York, through which he produced work until 1980.
