Seascape Oil Painting by Albert DeRome
Item Details
A beautiful oil painting depicting a California seascape by Albert DeRome (1885-1959), painted in the 1930s and is one of his rarest and last paintings. He studied at the Mark Hopkins Institute in S. F. and traveled with various California artists. A car accident in the 1930s ended his career when an insurance settlement stopped him from being able to sell his work.. In 1988 Walter Nelson Rees gathered all of his works and wrote a biography but all items were burnt in the 1990 Oakland fires, making his surviving works rare and collectible. It is presented in a giltwood frame.
