W.H. Goss Crested China Miniatures
Item Details
A collection of W.H. Goss crested china miniatures. The miniature souvenir or heraldic china vessels bear crests of cities or provinces. Includes pots, jugs, pitchers, bowls and cups. Many are labeled ‘Models’ after full size excavated pieces from Rome, Germany, England, and more. One miniature jug has a stamp to the underside reading, ‘Model of Jug about 600 years old found in the ancient moat of Scarborough Pub. by W.S. Lowson.’ All marked to bottom with factory marks: serif marks date from 1858 to 1887 and sans-serif marks date 1887 to 1916. W.H. Goss was in operation from 1858 to 1939.
Condition
- most in good condition. The tall Scarborough bud vase has a crack to the base as well as a Thurso cup.
