A Federal style mahogany secretary. Features a carved scrolled pediment with filigreed foliate detailing and carved finial above leaf style dentil detailing. The top book case includes three interior shelves for storage with a pair of glass front doors featuring peaked geometric style panes to the glass. The door is finished with a brass escutcheon with included key. The main work surface is a hinged piece of mahogany which is flat when open and oblique when raised to enclose secondary work surfaces such as small shelves, small drawers and nooks stacked in front of the user. It is finished with a brass escutcheon to the top. The work surface rests above a five drawer chest finished with brass batwing bails and pulls and finished with slight incised columnar style corners to the front. The piece rests on four carved bracket feet.
