An original, signed Allyn Cox rendering of British Burn the Capital, 1814. This is a detailed sketch in pencil and watercolor or acrylic of the painting on the ceiling of the US Capitol, circa 1973. The image depicts the British army attacking and burning the US Capitol during the War of 1812. It is signed in the lower right.
Allyn Cox was mural and portrait painter who was commissioned to paint historical scenes and portraits in to decorate the rotunda and corridors of the United States Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

Some matte staining.
