A pair of artworks by Adrian Lamb (1901-1988) including ‘Portrait of a Gentleman after Gilbert Stuart’, oil on canvas, a copy made from the collection of the Metropolitan Museum and ‘Mrs. Ticknell after George Romney’, oil on canvas, a copy made from the collection of the Metropolitan Museum. Lamb studied at the Art Students League with George Bridgman before embarking upon a career as a society portraitist in mid-20th century America. His work is to be found in the Senate Reception Room, U S Capitol, the Smithsonian, The White House and Harvard University. His sitters include Joseph P. Kennedy, Theodore Roosevelt, and J. P. Morgan. Provenance: previously in the collection of the New Canaan, Ct. Library; purchased at auction by Riverfront Gallery, Cincinnati; to this collection by purchase. Documentation included. Each is presented without glass in an ornate bronze tone carved wood frame.
