A handwoven Heriz Serapi wool area rug. The carpet has a color palette of deep indigo blue, vermillion red, burnt orange, taupe, ochre and silver sage. It features a large central eight-pointed medallion with large pendants to the center, surrounded by rectilinear filler motifs in floral and foliate patterns. The central lozenge has a crenellated border It has a compound border in complementary colors with large open flower blossoms and geometric patterning, with a burnt orange and blue selvedge edge. It has a slightly coarse knot count and warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.
