A vintage Spotlight opaque projector from J.T. Taylor Company circa 1970s,. This projector is constructed from heavy green steel with a light inside. The opaque projector—also known as an epidioscope, epidiascope or episcope— can be used to show opaque materials by shining a bright lamp onto the object from above. Using mirrors, prisms and/or imaging lenses allows the machine to focus an image of the material onto a viewing screen.
