Antique Catholic Extreme Unction Box

Item Details

An antique Roman Catholic last rite box made of oak. The figurines in the top depict Mary holding a dying Jesus behind glass with the phrase ‘Blessed Be Thy Holy Name’ written underneath. The bottom features a hinged box with a print of the Last Supper to the front and the word “Viaticum” to the inside. The verso has a wire for mounting. A last rites box is a traditional gift for families to keep in the home should the need arise for a visiting priest to administer the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick or Extreme Unction.

Good- wear to wood consistent with age
