Raku-Fired Hand Thrown Stoneware Vase with Rhododendron

Item Details

A hand thrown stoneware vase, raku fired, with an open pierced-work design highlighting a pink rhododendron. Surrounding the flowers on either side are large, elongated green leaves, echoed in the design of the domed lid with leaf finial. The piece has been brush glazed with pink and green low-fire glazes, then a white crackle glaze to the surface. Raku-firing gives the carbon-black foot at the base. The contents, fragrant potpourri, in included. It is marked ‘Rhododendron’ with an illegible signature to the underside.
