An original watercolor painting by Francis William Vreeland (1879 – 1954), the genre painting depicts a mother and her children outside of a doorway. The children are busy playing with the chickens as the mother prepares food. Francis William Van Vreeland has ties to Cincinnati. In the early 1900’s, he worked at the Rookwood Pottery Company and also studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy. The painting is signed to the lower left by the artist and is presented in an ornate gold tone moulded frame. Also included is a brass light, which is attached to the frame.
