This is an awesome vintage Howdah, elephant saddle chair or seat, Circa 1950s which was purchased in Malaysia and brought back to the United States in the mid 1950s. The Howdah has been used since the ancient years as a form of transportation for very wealthy people as well as being used for hunting and warfare. This Howdah is hand carved from solid teak wood and displays stunning craftsmanship with its wonderful curved and scalloped wood design covered in gorgeous floral and leaf carvings. A truly remarkable piece.
