Boris Lovet-Lorski Bronze Sculpture "Polynesian Lady"

Item Details

A circa 1970s bronze sculpture with a black patina titled Polynesian Lady by well-listed Lithuanian/American artist Boris Lovet-Lorski (1894 – 1973). The sculpture depicts a figure high-coiffed hair and is without arms. Lovet-Lorski is best known for his renderings of the female nude that epitomize the modernist aesthetic of Art Deco. He has created this figure in various mediums including marble and bronze. The signature is incised to the back of the leg.

Lovet-Lorski was born in Lithuania and immigrated to America in 1925 during the year of his first solo exhibition. He blends aspects of Archaic, Byzantine, and Asian figural traditions to create his unique approach to the human form.
