Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Chair
Item Details
On June 2nd, 1953, Queen Elizabeth II took her Coronation Oath at Westminster Abbey. The invited guests were given the option to purchase the chair upon which they sat during the ceremony and this coronation chair, #78, was used by Sir Jocylin Lucas, a Member of Parliament representing the City of Portsmouth. The chair is austere in style yet covered in a platinum velvet at the seat and back with gold trim. The Queen’s Insignia, ‘ERII’ under a crown, is embroidered in gold at the top right and a small metal label numbered 78 is affixed to the top. A rare opportunity to own a piece of British history.
Condition
The gold trim is loose in several places but an easy repair
